Elizabeth Ann/Lizzie Hitchon was born in 1871 at Adam’s Flat in South Otago – the daughter of Henry Horton Hitchon, a miner and storekeeper, and Jane Bennett. (See 92 Jane Hitchon)
Lizzie signed the suffrage petition at Adam’s Flat.
She married Francis Henry Beckingsale, a warehouseman, on 21 September 1893 at her brother’s home in Kaitangata.
They had three children and lived in Hawera, Ashburton, Wellington and Palmerston before moving to Masterton where Francis died in 1934.
Lizzie died on 4 February 1961, they are both buried in the Archer St Cemetery, Masterton.
