Elizabeth/Lizzie Aitken was born in 1866 in New Zealand – the daughter of William Aitken, a mason’s labourer, and Jessie Ross. (See 93 Mrs Aitken)
She married David Kirkwood Torrance in 1887 and they had five children.
David worked as a mill operative and when Lizzie signed the suffrage petition the family were living in School St, Roslyn.
Lizzie died on 19 November 1931 and David died in 1939 – they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
