Loueise Maria Odell Prain was born in Victoria, Australia in 1858 – the daughter of Alexander Prain and Mary Henry.
The family sailed for Otago in 1862 on the City of Hobart and settled in Moeraki, north of Dunedin.
Loueise’s father died in 1877 and she married William Boyne, a merchant, on 26 May 1886 at her mother’s home 'Hillgrove' in Moeraki.
They had four children and when Loueise signed the suffrage petition they were living in East Gore.
Loueise died on 15 June 1926 and William died in 1937. They are buried in the family grave in the Gore Cemetery.
