Louisa Howie was born about 1873 in the Tokomairiro district – the daughter of Thomas Howie, a farmer, and Winifred Woods. (See 80 Winifred Howie)
When Louisa signed the suffrage petition she was living with her widowed mother in Milton working as a housemaid.
She married Adam Leask Slater, a farm labourer and widower with four children, in 1905 and they had two sons.
Louisa died in the Dunedin Hospital in February 1911, she is buried with her parents in the Fairfax Cemetery, Milton.
Adam died at Lovells Flat in 1938, he is buried in the Old Balclutha Cemetery.
