Louisa Rebecca Wallington was born about 1845 in London. She married Frederick Pearce, a printer and compositor, in London in 1864.
They had six children, two who died in infancy, before the family emigrated to Auckland in 1875 on the Alumbagh.
They had a further two children after their arrival in New Zealand - the youngest was one year old when Frederick died in 1879 in the Dunedin Hospital.
When Louisa signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Fox Rd, South Dunedin (now known as Melbourne St).
Louisa died at her home on 22 June 1930, she is buried with Frederick in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
