Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Louisa Connor was born about 1850 in Ireland. She married James Reid, an agricultural labourer, on 22 November 1866 in Glendermot, Derry.

They had four children, two who died in infancy, before they emigrated to Otago in 1874 on the Jessie Readman.

Their youngest child Louisa died on the voyage from bronchitis and, at least, another two children in New Zealand.

When Louisa signed the suffrage petition the family were living in King St, Dunedin and James was working as a baker.

James died in 1920 and Louisa died on 16 June 1933, they are buried with their daughter Letitia (See 51 Letitia Reid) in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
