Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Louisa Sarah Pearce was born in 1867 in London – the daughter of Frederick Pearce, a compositor, and Louisa Wallington. (See 64 Louisa Pearce)
She emigrated to Auckland in 1875 with her family on the Alumbagh and she married Francis Albert Sims, a labourer, on 18 June 1891 at St Peter’s Church, Caversham, Dunedin.
They had six children and when Louisa signed the suffrage petition she gave her address as Fox Rd – possibly she was visiting her mother at the time.
The family lived in Fairlie in Canterbury before moving back to Dunedin where Francis died in 1946, he is buried in the Northern Cemetery.
Louisa died on 11 March 1952 in Auckland, she was cremated and her ashes buried in the Waikumete Cemetery.
