Louisa Gerring was born in 1844 in Berkshire, England – the daughter of Thomas Gerring, an agricultural labourer, and Elizabeth Iles.

She married Charles Keen in 1865 – they had a son later that year who died in infancy.

Charles died in 1870 and Louisa re-married in 1871 to Enoch Willis.

They had two daughters, one who died in infancy, before they emigrated to Otago in 1874 on the Sussex.

The family settled in Dunedin where their final six children were born – two of these children also died in infancy.

When Louisa signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Richmond Rd, Caversham and Enoch was working as a gardener.

Louisa died at her home on 17 January 1900, Enoch re-married two times, he died in 1937.

They are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
