Lucy Ellis was born in 1870 in Dunedin – the daughter of John Ellis, a blacksmith, Ellen Paton. (See 63 Mrs Ellis)
When Lucy signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Duke St, Dunedin working as a dressmaker.
She married George Mitchell Runciman, a shop assistant, on 29 October 1896 in Dunedin and they had two daughters.
The family lived in Marton in the Rangitikei Distrist where George eventually took up farming.
He died in 1942 and Lucy died on 8 September 1952, they are buried together in the Mt View Cemetery, Marton.
