The entry says " Lucy L. England of Merivale", not Luc L. England. The "y "goes way down, appearing through and even below the entry under hers.
Lucy was born Lucy Louisa Lock . She married Alfred Kelynge England on 10 Dec 1889 who was a timber merchant in the family business of R. W. England until shortly before his death in Jan 1935. She would have been about 31 when she signed the petition. They later lived in Hills rd., St. Martins (1922 electoral roll). Their lovely home, ' Stoneleigh" on Murray Aynsley Hill is displayed inside and out in quality photographs in a photo album gifted in 1922 to their son Eric and and his wife Violet (nee Violet Joline FRANCIS who he'd married in 1915. Violet died 10 Dec 1932 aged 40, buried in Linwood cemetery. ) Lucy died in 1943. Besides Eric she had a daughter Nydia who married Norman Henley and lived in Auckland and had three daughters. The photo album is in Christchurch City Library Archives ( Nov 2022) because when it was found the identity of the house and people photographed were unknown.
