Margaret McDonald McFadyen was born about 1857 in New Zealand, the daughter of Hugh McFadyen, a town clerk, and Helen Hunter Morrison.
She married Samuel Anderson, a bootmaker, in 1878 in Dunedin. They had five children.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition they were living in Bank St, Timaru.
In the mid 1920s they moved to Christchurch, where Margaret died on February 25th 1938 and Samuel died in 1941.
They are buried together in the Bromley Cemetery.
