Marion Burns Stewart Alexander was born on 18 May 1871 in Lanarkshire, Scotland – the daughter of William Alexander, a grain merchant, and Marion Reid Stewart. (See 40 M R Alexander) She emigrated to Otago in 1879 with her family on the Timaru and they settled in Dunedin.

When Marion signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Caversham working as a saleswoman.

She married John Abercrombie Dibbs, an engineer, on 23 July 1907 at St Paul’s, Chatswood, Sydney.

They had three children and they lived in Victoria then in New South Wales where John died in 1965 and Marion died on 22 April 1972  - their burial place in unknown.
