Margaret Jane Wilson was born in 1868 in Waitati north of Dunedin – the daughter of Peter Wilson, a farmer, and Mary.
She married Henry John Bartlett, a cook, in 1889 and they had nine children.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Great King St, Dunedin.
Mary died at their home in Nairn St, Dunedin on 7 October 1932 and Henry died in 1941.
They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
