Margaret Bowling was born in 1870 in New Zealand, the daughter of Anthony Bowling, a farmer, and Janet Petrie Anderson.

When she signed the suffrage petition Margaret was living with her family in Waikouaiti, north of Dunedin.

Margaret had a daughter in 1906. She married John Burrow, a watchmaker and widower with six children, on April 27th 1910 in Auckland.

They had a daughter in 1913, and a few years later they moved to Pukekohe where John died in 1933. He is buried in the Pukekohe Cemetery.

Margaret died on September 7th 1954 in Auckland. She is buried in the Purewa Cemetery.
