Mary Boyd was born in New Zealand in 1869 – the daughter of James Boyd, a labourer, and Mary Burns. (See 98 Mrs Boyd)
When Mary signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in North Taieri Rd, Dunedin.
She married Douglas Bannerman Muir, a saddler, on 4 October 1894 at her parent’s home in Dunedin.
The family had four children and lived in Oamaru then Temuka.
Mary died in November 1941 at her home 'Craiegieburn' Railway Terrace, Temuka and Douglas died in 1946.
They are buried together in the Temuka Cemetery.
