Maud Annie Clifford was born in 1874 in Kent, England. She was daughter of Ashley Clifford and Sarah Ann Quested.
She arrived, with her family, in Otago in 1879 on the Loch Fleet.
The family originally settled in the Crookston District of Otago but by 1886 the family had moved to Dunedin and Maud was attending Arthur Street School.
Maud died on 10 August 1961 in Dunedin, she is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery with her sister Florence.
