Mary Euphemia Forrester was born in 1871 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Stevenson Forrester and Julia Teresa Brigg.
Her father died in 1874 and when Mary signed the suffrage petition she was living with her mother in Hawthorn, North East Valley, Dunedin.
Mary married William Ford Willis, a mariner, in Victoria, Australia in 1902.
In the 1930s and 1940s they lived in Western Australia where William died in 1944 and Mary died on 10 August 1955.
They are buried together in the Karrakatta Cemetery.
