Margaret Elizabeth Rawlinson was born in 1871 in Victoria, Australia – the daughter of Joseph Field Rawlinson and Margaret Elizabeth Cattanach. (See 144 Mrs Margaret Rawlinson)
She came to New Zealand with her family about 1876 and they lived in Invercargill and Tapanui before moving to Dunedin in the late 1880s.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Opoho working as a seamstress.
She married Daniel Ferguson, a shoemaker, on 1 January 1895 at the North East Valley Presbyterian Church and they had three sons.
Daniel died at their home in 1938 and Margaret died on 5 April 1954 – they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
