Margaret Gray Cunningham was born in 1868 in New Zealand, the daughter of John Millar Cunningham, a baker, and Mary Burns.
When she signed the suffrage petition Margaret was living with her family in Palmerston in North Otago.
She married Ernest Christian Johansen, a sheepfarmer, in 1902. They lived at first in Mataura before moving to Temuka.
Margaret died on April 8th 1945. She is buried in the Temuka Cemetery.
Ernest died in 1950 in Christchurch. His burial place is unknown.
