Margaret Glen Robertson was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of Alexander Robertson, a blacksmith, and Catherine.

When Margaret signed the suffrage petition she was living with the family in Castle St, Dunedin.

She married engineer James Edward Skeates in 1904 and they had one son.

They lived in Palmerston North then in Auckland where James died in 1946 – he is buried in the Purewa Cemetery.

Margaret died on 24 July 1949 – she was cremated.
