Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Margaret Haylock was born about 1855 in Wales.

She came to New Zealand where she married George Griffiths, an engine driver, in 1886.

They had two children and when Margaret signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Victoria Terrace, Andersons Bay Rd in South Dunedin.

Margaret died at her home on 19 September 1913 – she is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.

George died in 1937 – he was cremated and his ashes were scattered.
