Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Margaret Clements was born in New Zealand in 1868 — the daughter of Harold Clements and Grace Haggart.
She married Hugh Haggart, a farmer, in 1890 and they had five children.
When she signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Wangaloa in South Otago.
About 1918 the family moved to Kaitangita where Hugh died in 1938. Margaret died in April 1946, she is buried with Hugh in the Kaitangata Lawn Cemetery.
