Margaret Rorison was born in 1855 in Glasgow, Scotland – the daughter of Thomas Leishman Rorison and Margaret McKillop.
Margaret emigrated to New Zealand in 1874 on the Varuna accompanied by her mother.
She married fellow passenger Alexander Duff Hall later that year in Christchurch and they had 11 children.
The family lived at Charlton and Waimumu near Gore and Alexander worked as a traveller.
Margaret signed the suffrage petition in Mataura.
They later moved to Wellington where Alexander died in 1930 and Margaret died on 10 March 1942 – the are buried in the family grave in the Karori Cemetery.
