Margaret Amy Hopcraft, known as Amy, was born at Deddington Cottage, Cumberland St, Dunedin on 9 October 1871 – the daughter of Joseph Hopcraft, a bricklayer, and Margaret Armour. When she signed the suffrage petition Amy was living with her family in Queen St, North Dunedin.

She did not marry and she died on 24 August 1951 at her home in Queen St.

She is buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
