Margaret Jane Harrison was born about 1875 – the daughter of Richard Mark Harrison and Margaret from Quebec, Canada.

Margaret’s father was a drill instructor, Sergeant Major in the 1st Battalion Rifle Brigade.

In 1904 Margaret married Thomas Garrett, a miner from Sutton in Central Otago, they had one son before they moved to Tasmania.

While in Tasmania Thomas enlisted in WWI.

They later shifted back to the Sutton district where Thomas died in 1936.

Margaret died at Dunedin on 3 July 1952, she was cremated and her ashes were scattered.
