Marcella Josephine Pilkington was born about 1861 in County Clare, Ireland, the daughter of John Pilkington, a farmer, and Marcella Blackall.
She arrived in New Zealand about 1881. She married Thomas George Bell Patrick, a draper, on 7 April 1887 at St John’s, Willis St, Wellington.
They had one son. When she signed the suffrage petition, Marcella was living with her family in Canongate St, Dunedin.
Thomas died in 1914 and Marcella died on 13 May 1916. They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
