Martha May Rogers was born in 1867 in Waikouaiti, north of Dunedin – the daughter of James Rogers and Margaret.

Martha did not marry and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living in Royal Terrace, Dunedin.

She died on 20 December 1927 at the Benevolent Home, Dunedin and is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
