Margaret Jane Milburn was born in 1871 in Durham, England, the only child of Frank Milburn and Sarah Robinson.

She came to New Zealand with her parents in the late 1870s and they settled in Dunedin. Margaret’s father died in 1888.

When she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her mother in Paterson St, Mornington.

She married Richard Floyd Williams, an accountant and lay preacher, in 1904.

They had a daughter in 1906 and Margaret died a month later on August 15th in New Plymouth.

She is buried with her parents in the Southern Cemetery, Dunedin.

Richard remarried in 1917. He died in 1953 and is buried in the Maunu Cemetery, Whangarei.
