Martha Mitscherlisch was born about 1862 – the daughter of Frederick Mitscherlisch, a cabinetmaker, and Annie.
Martha grew up in Queenstown in Central Otago where she went to school and where she signed the suffrage petition.
After her father’s death in 1899 Martha moved to Wellington where two of her siblings were living.
She died there on 20 June 1904 and is buried with her brother in the Karori Cemetery.
