Martha Owen, her husband Henry Owen, her three sons, William, George and Herbert, as well as her parents, Samuel and Catherine Green, arrived in Dunedin, NZ, on board the "Jessie Readman" 23 March 1871 . The Green and Owen families moved north to Palmerston North in the early 1890s.

Martha Owen, nee Green, born 4 May 1846 at Ruddington, Notts, UK., daughter of Samuel Green (born Burton on the Wold, Leics) and Catherine nee Oliver (born Ruddington, Notts). Martha married Henry Owen (born Birmingham, UK in 1842) at Edgbaston, Birmingham in 1866 and arrived in New Zealand about 1871 (ship not known) with her husband, (a builder) three small sons, both her parents and her sister Eliza. They settled first in Dunedin and moved to Palmerston North around 1891.
