From Lambs and Mud, a Pioneer Tale by Wag Cooper ISBN 0-473-00766-5 published 1989:
Wag was Mary's daughter-in-law. Mary was based in Gisborne; however P 38 says 'several times we went to Napier for the wool sales', so I am thinking that she went there to sign the suffrage petition?

There is a picture of Mary Ann on page 7, but I think it is under copyright. I have attached another photo off Ancestry website. They traveled by buggy and horses. She was hospitable and often had grandchildren for meals and stay overnight; she was a baker and iced wedding cakes, and did knitting and mending, and during the 1931 earthquake took a grandchild safely away from the chimneys and water tanks.
