Margaret Andrew Edgar was born in Dudley, Worcestershire, England in 1851 – the daughter of James Edgar, a draper, and Emma Meredith.

The family emigrated to New Zealand about 1862 and settled in Dunedin.

Margaret married Daniel Turner, a bootmaker, on 24 June 1870 in Dunedin and they had two daughters.

Daniel died in 1907 and Margaret died on 30 August 1939, they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
