Margaret/Maggie Aitchison was born about 1843 in Ontario, Canada – the daughter of James Aitchison, a farmer, and Margaret.

She came to New Zealand in the early 1860s with her brothers James and William who were both farmers.

When Margaret signed the suffrage she was living at Clarksville, possibly with one of her brothers.

Margaret died at Dunedin on 10 April 1925, she is buried in the Fairfax Cemetery, Milton.

"Maggie AITCHSION" probably = Margaret "Maggie" AITCHISON nee SCOTT. Maggie was born in 1868 in New Plymouth, and probably died 1931, buried at Hillsborough, Auckland. “Margaret, wife of John Aitchison, died 18 Aug 1931 aged 63 yrs, and John Aitchison died 23 Apr 1929 aged 76 yrs”

Maggie married John "Jack" AITCHISON, refrigeration engineer at Burnside, on 30 Nov 1888 at Green Island Presbyterian Church. The surname spelling is often rendered Aitcheson in records.
