Maggie/Margaret McLeod was born on 6 April 1869 – the daughter of Neil McLeod, a blacksmith, and Beatrice Robson. (See 132 Mrs N McLeod)
She emigrated to New Zealand with her family in 1879 on the Marlborough and when Margaret signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Mataura working as a dressmaker.
She married Thomas Pryde in 1897 and they had five children.
Thomas died in Christchurch in 1944 – he is buried in the Ruru Lawn Cemetery.
Margaret died in Invercargill on 5 July 1947 – she is buried in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
