Margaret Turner Sinclair was born on 10 June 1869 in Aberlady, East Lothian, Scotland – the daughter of Gabriel Sinclair, a carter and farmer, and Jane Anderson.
She married Andrew Clark, a gardener, in 1890 in Midlothian.
They had a son and a daughter before they emigrated to Otago about 1892.
When Maggie signed the suffrage petition they were living in Hanover St, Dunedin - they had three more daughters after their arrival in New Zealand.
Maggie died on 13 November 1953 and Andrew died in 1962, they are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
