Margaret McLaren was born in New Zealand in 1869 – the daughter of Alexander McLaren and Isabella Hardie.
She married Hugh Galbraith, a labourer, in 1892. They had 3 children and when Maggie signed the suffrage petition they were living in Palmerston, north of Dunedin.
They later moved to Waikouaiti – after this there is no record of Hugh.
Margaret died on March 25th 1940 at her parents’ home “Littlewood” at Goodwood, near Palmerston.
She is buried in the Palmerton Cemetery.
