Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Margaret Taylor was born about 1866 — the daughter of Edward Bremner Taylor and Ann Postlethwaite.

She married Peter Haggart, a farmer with two children, who was the widower of Maggie’s sister Catherine on 17 March 1893.

Margaret had no children and when she signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Kaitangata, South Otago.

The family later moved to Wingatui on the Taieri Plains near Dunedin where Peter died in 1939.

Margaret died on 8 November 1946, she is buried with Peter in the East Taieri Cemetery.
