Margaret Honeyman was born in 1867 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Honeyman, a labourer, and Helen Miller.
She grew up in South Otago and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living in Milton.
Margaret married Jesse Preddy, an engine driver, in 1897 - they had four children, one who died in infancy, and the family lived in Temuka.
Margaret died at her home in Temuka on 7 September 1908, she is buried in the Temuka Cemetery.
Jesse remarried in 1912 – he died in 1950 and is buried with Margaret in the family grave.
