Margaret Alexander Inglis was born in 1870 in South Otago – the daughter of George Inglis, a farmer, and Ellen Thomson. (See 122 Mrs Geo Inglis)
After the death of her father in 1892 the family moved to Dunedin and when Margaret signed the suffrage petition they were living in Maybank, North East Valley.
Margaret did not marry – she died on 15 June 1947 and is buried with her parents in the Old Balclutha Cemetery.
