Margaret Waddell was born about 1864 in Scotland.
She married Archibald Leckie in 1883 and they had six children, one who died in infancy.
When she signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Sunnydale, North East Valley, Dunedin.
Archibald died in 1933 and Margaret died on 10 July 1946 – they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
