Margaret Louisa Miscall was born in Waitahuna, Otago, New Zealand in 1871 – the daughter of Timothy Miscall, a gold miner, and Susan Gildea.
Margaret’s family moved to Dunedin in the late 1880s and lived in South Dunedin. Her sisters Ellen and Annie also signed the 1893 suffrage petition. In the late 1890s Timothy disappeared and no further trace was found of him.
Margaret died in 1894 aged 22, she is buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
