Margaret Hanley was born about 1867 in South Otago – the daughter of John Hanley, a farmer, and Margaret Maley. (See 92 Margaret Hanley)
Margaret married Michael Begley, a farmer, in 1886 and they had three children, one who died in infancy.
Michael died in Dunedin Hospital in 1890, he is buried with their son in the Fairfax Cemetery, Milton.
After Michael’s death the farm was sold and when Margaret signed the suffrage petition she was living at Clarksville.
Margaret moved to Dunedin in the 1900s where she died on 12 May 1957 – she is buried with her daughter in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
