Margaret Campbell Maclean was born on 11 May 1854 in Tyree, Argyllshire, Scotland – the daughter of George Maclean, a farmer, and Duncan Campbell.
She emigrated to New Zealand with her parents in the early 1880s and they settled in Dunedin.
Both of Margaret’s parents died soon after their arrival in the country & when she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her sister Helen (See 62 Helen J Maclean) in Forth Place, Dunedin although she signed in Castle St.
Margaret died on 24 November 1919, she is buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
