Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Margaret Taylor was born about 1858. She married Arthur Cockroft, an engine driver, in 1877 in New Zealand.

They had 10 children and the family lived for a time in Kelso, in South Otago, before moving to Clinton where Margaret signed the suffrage petition.

In 1900 Arthur was transferred to Invercargill where Margaret died on 11 May 1927.

Arthur died in 1933 - they are buried in the family grave in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
