Margaret Thomson was born about 1839 in the Shetland Islands, she married William Davidson, a crofter and fisherman, on 19 December 1867 at Bressay, Shetland.
They had three daughters before they emigrated to Otago in 1875 on the Nelson.
The family settled in Tapanui, South Otago and they had four more children.
Margaret signed the suffrage petition in Tapanui, she died at her home, Bedford St, Tapanui on 4 December 1906.
William died in 1914 and they are buried together in the Tapanui Cemetery.
