Margaret Davidson was born on 19 September 1870 in Bressay, Shetland – the daughter of William Davidson, a crofter and fisherman, and Margaret Thomson. (See 100 Margaret Davidson) Margaret emigrated to Otago in 1875 on the Nelson with her family who settled in Tapanui, South Otago.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition she was living in Tapanui working as a dressmaker.
She married John Liddell Wylie, a builder, on 24 May 1899 at the Tapanui Presbyterian Church. They had no children.
Margaret died at her home in Tapanui on 20 April 1931 and John died in 1943, they are buried together in the Tapanui Cemetery.
