Margaret Robertson was born about 1848 in Scotland and came to Dunedin on the City of Dunedin in 1863.
In 1870 she married John Thomas Dawson, an ironworker and they had 11 children.
In 1878 John was made insolvent and in 1893 he was a hammerman living at Bradshaw St with his wife Margaret.
They moved to Maria Rd, Sth Dunedin then Argyle St, Mornington. John died there in 1912 & Margaret died on 24 April 1930. They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
