Margaret Barbara Glover was born about 1868 in New Zealand.
She married Henry Gore, a wood and coal dealer, in 1884 and they had nine children.
In 1887 their eldest son Henry was kicked in the head by a horse which caused brain damage. He wandered from home frequently and in 1892 he drowned in the harbour.
The following year two-year-old Catherine died on 23 May and 14-month-old George died on 2 June.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Cumberland St, Dunedin where they ran a livery stable and omnibus hire business.
Henry was a founding member of the Temperance Alliance and a member of the Socialist Party.
Margaret died on 13 May 1921 and Henry died in 1941, they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
