Margaret Hunter was born about 1839 in Midlothian, Scotland – the daughter of John Hunter, a miller, and Mary Leitch.
She emigrated to Otago in about 1879, the same time as her sister Agnes Henderson, Agnes’ husband Allan, a bookkeeper, and their five children.
Agnes died in 1882 and Margaret married Allan Henderson on 9 November 1886 at York Place, Dunedin. They lived in Rothesay, West Harbour, Dunedin.
Allan died in 1923 and Margaret died on 31 August 1929. They are buried with Agnes and other family members in the Northern Cemetery.
