Margaret Ramsay was born about 1870 in Scotland – the second daughter of James Ramsay.
She emigrated to Victoria, Australia with her family where she married Francis Wakefield Holmes at her home on 29 July 1891.
They had a daughter in Victoria before they sailed for Otago.
They settled in Dunedin where they had a further three children, one who died in infancy.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition they were living in High Street and Francis was working as a salesman.
Francis died in 1954 and Margaret died on 2 January 1956 – they were both cremated and their ashes were scattered.
